Breakfast was in simple dining area of this hotel behind an automatic door; we had some simple dishes to fuel up before heading off; the only unsightly thing was a large cockroach trying to find its share of breakfast as we were getting some food. Fortunately, it didn't get in contact with any food laid there.
After departing, we were haggled by an old lady who tried to sell us a tour package around Alishan area including a bus ride up. However, we decided to drop the idea and just take the bus ride up by a Mr Huang. The ferry fee was about NT550 for the both of us and the ticket fee to enter Alishan National Park was going at 2 for 1 (NT150) as it was National Holiday that day.
Mr Huang offered to give us a ferry back after our trip and even told us not to discuss this with other passengers when we arrived at our hotel for the "deal he was offering. That was something which didn't sound quite right.
So finally, after 2.5 hours ride, we are up at our home for the next 2 days!
The hotel staff had told us that there is no heater provided at night so we have to be properly clothed to ourselves well-insulated. Temperature here drops a fair bit after the sun's out.
To get to our starting point for attractions, we need to walk up a flight of stairs that will bring us to the train station and an array of eateries. This looks like a place which requires considerable fitness if you want to move fast.
It was almost lunchtime so we decided to refuel before moving around. Today's lunch is at a nearby restaurant. Hotpots are all over this place and it's a good thing to eat considering the cooler climate right in the mountains.
Local Chinese dishes are nice and the locals like eating bamboo shoots which are usuaally boiled, braised or just steamed. It carries its own odour which is something my wife doesn't like.
This was my lunch for today. My wife's lunch; fried chicken with vegetables set.
