After clearing customs, it's time to find my way to my accomodation since I will be based here for the next few days. What I need is a physical map which will help me find my way there. First thing I will need is this a SIM card which can be found at this telco. For Blackberry, the card costs A$49.95 for 30 days usage (but they don't return a 5 cents change). Once the main door opens, I could feel the gush of cool wind which temperature was much lower than the coolest air conditioned room in Singapore.
MyMulti card is the public transportation ride which will bring you around Syndey. I took the MyMulti3 since it includes also the train services which goes all the way out to the ends of the state since I will be going much further out. I need to include the return for the airport since I will need to take another ride back to the airport terminal.
Seems like the map doesn't show the name of the road hence I have to ask around, when I arrived at Central Station. I'm getting a little hungry so I decided to get a Subway and lunch near the giant chessboard which was just a stone's throw away from the station exit. There's a beautiful cathedral behind this chessboard but I was interrupted by a beggar who walked up to ask for me for some "financial help". Of course, I declined and he walked away after rolling his eyes in disapppointment.
I chanced upon this Chinese restaurant in the business district area where I got help from a very nice lady, Tiffany who offered to print the map for me. We discussed a little and it appeared that the road is actually unmarked on my map.
After a short walk continuing to be amazed at the clean city, I finally checked myself in at Sydney Backpackers where I will be staying for the next few days before moving to Bondi.
So here's my lodging! There's free wifi with a provided password so I just have to keep within the proximity. It's pretty accessible with many eateries nearby so I don't really have to worry about not finding a place to eat. Seems like the fastest fix here would be to get fast foods since it's also one of the cheapest things to eat around. More exploration coming up. Keep reading!
